What Does Your Car Horn Say?

Saw this in an inspirational newsletter I get via E-Mail.     I hope you enjoy it – or learn from it.

What Does Your Car Horn Say?
(Author Unknown)
Do you remember when the whole lower half of a car’s steering wheel used to constitute the car’s horn? A car horn that was half the size of the steering wheel made it so much easier and fun to find and hit than locating today’s microscopic, camouflaged little buttons. How are you ever supposed to find and use your horn in the nanosecond you have in case of a pending accident?

But it was a daughter’s comment that made me ponder the changing role of yet another thing I thought would never change. She said something to the effect that a horn was mainly for communicating to another driver that you are angry with them. I was a little shocked. When had a car horn become mostly an instrument to express road rage? How were we communicating that to her? I didn’t think of a car horn that way at all!

So I started to tell her all about all the old-fashioned uses of the trusty car horn. Isn’t a horn primarily for accident prevention? To warn another driver that they are straying into your path, or in danger of hitting you? For such uses, the little buttons are woefully inadequate. Unless you drive with your thumb or finger poised over the button, forget it. You can never find the horn that fast.

How else are horns used? Well, of course there is the friendly little “hello” honk. Then there is the romantic or flirting honk. Then there is the sentimental goodbye honk: one woman taps her horn lightly whenever she leaves her mother’s home – a cute little ritual that somehow signals all is well between them. A goodbye honk is like a goodnight kiss: hard to do if you are mad at someone.

It is an unfortunate sign of the times if my kids have come to think of the horn as a thing you use to sound off at another driver.
So what are we teaching our kids by example and what they absorb from the rest of society if they look at car horns primarily as a tool of aggression? The increase in road-rage and the erosion of the old-fashioned accident-preventing car horn to the point where the horn is mainly an accent mark for flaring tempers is undoubtedly due to many factors.

But can we stem this trend by taking a look again at how we see other people? When we respect other people as God’s creation, as people that God also loves, we move even our road etiquette up a little higher on the civility scale.

“Show a gentle attitude toward everyone,” says the Bible in Philippians 4:5.

Does that apply to my road behavior, too?

Media Sabotage

This feud between Trump and Cruz over who said what and when regarding their families is not only getting old quick but also dangerous.  It seems like they are missing the major factor which is that the media is fueling this in order to damage them in the elections.    That way the medias candidate (Hillary) has a much better chance to win the main election.  The Main Stream Media is sitting back loving this feud that they have orchestrated and kept going long after it should have died out.  I believe that the main problem with our country is the Main Stream Media and their agenda.    My family never watches the main news sources anymore and believe only about half what we hear from FOX news.

What I miss About A Traditional Church

Saying (singing) the Doxology

Lyrics ~ Thomas Ken, 1637 – 1711

Music ~ Louis Bourgeois, c.1510 – c.1561

in the Grenevan Psalter, 1551

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Amen.

Saying the Lords Prayer

(traditional)

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.

Saying the Apostles Creed

We believe in God the Father Almighty

Maker of Heaven and earth

And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit

Born of the virgin Mary

Suffered under Pontious Pilate

Was crucified, dead and buried

He descended into the place of the dead

The third day He rose again

From the dead

He descended into Heaven

And sits at the right hand

Of God the Father Almighty

From there He shall come

To judge the living and the dead

Singing the old hymns I grew up with – In the Garden, The Old Rugged Cross, What A Friend We Have In Jesus and many many more

It seems that almost all churches have contemporary music (services) anymore.  I realize that this brings in a much younger crowd to the church which isn’t bad in itself.  I could get used to the guitars and drums in the service except that they are way too loud and that drowns out the voices trying to sing the song.

I kinda like churches with Pews instead of the folding style chairs we have now.

I liked the days when folks weren’t in a rush to leave and get home but instead took time to talk to each other and make sure to talk to any newcomers.

Although this isn’t a biggie I liked it when the minister wore a formal robe instead of wearing street clothes.

The church I grew up in had a “Choir” and not a “Worship Team”.  With a choir it is easier to feel kinds of spiritual or reverent instead of having the rock n roll feeling that is not relaxing.

There is a lot more but I will fill in the gaps later.

Disney wants to Boycott Christianity and other religions…but mostly Christianity

Old Walt Disney will be spinning in his grave.

What the little story below means – for those of you in Rio LInda – if a state upholds the right of any church to refuse to perform a homosexual wedding because it goes against Biblical teachings, that state will not have any future Disney corporation income from their filming movies within it. You see, according to the Disney corporation, if you punish Christians (and Jews, Hindus, Muslims, etc.) their right to uphold their religious practices, you are practicing “tolerance.” This is the same Disney corporation that fired American computer programmers to bring in lower cost foreign workers last year. http://www.computerworld.com/article/2915904/it-outsourcing/fury-ri…; Apparently the Disney corporation is also intolerant of people who pay full taxes in this country and were raised by people who did the same, often for 40-50 years and took their kids to see Disney films.

Notice the article doesn’t say that Disney will refuse to distribute its movies in Georgia if this bill passes and thus forego any income from people living in Georgia. But some of the comments to this story call for Christians to immediately start boycotting any and all Disney products. That might be tougher with small children, but it can be done. And Disney makes many films for grown up audiences that just might start showing a drop off in sales and rentals.

Can the GOP win in the fall?

They can if they stop fighting each other.   I can just picture Hillary and her stall watching this happen and taking notes.   The GOP is doing Hillary’s job for her by giving her ideas and airing our dirty laundry.  We are poised to lose an election we should have won easily.   At least one member of my family has left the Republican party and registered as an Independent. . . . I am thinking of doing the same.

Murder b y Political Correctness

No More Murder by Political Correctness

PJ Media:

Are progressives going to murder our children with their political correctness?

Brutal as that sounds, that’s a serious question we must all be asking ourselves after the terror attacks in Brussels. Everyone knows such events could easily happen here (where our population dwarfs Belgium’s and therefore opens us to a far greater catastrophe numerically) and yet our progressive and liberal friends — even and especially the moral narcissists running for the Democratic presidential nomination — refuse to name radical Islam as the perpetrator of the attacks.

Let alone Islam itself, the true culprit.

Demonstrating Against Free Speech in America

Tea Party Nation

Posted by Frosty Wooldridge on March 22, 2016 at 9:42am

The Democrat-leaning demonstrators crowded the streets of Chicago this month to close down a Trump campaign rally.  The next day, they chanted, “We stopped Trump.”

In reality, they stopped his 1st Amendment right of free speech guaranteed by our U.S. Constitution.  The single greatest reason the framers of our country placed free speech as the number one amendment:  the right and need to express yourself in order to enjoy a free country.  Without free speech, we become a dictatorship ruled by really nasty people.

In Arizona, last weekend, Democrat-leaning liberals tried to shut down a Trump rally by blocking the freeways leading to convention center.

At several of Trump’s speaking engagements, liberal hecklers tried to create a riot by shouting down the front-runner of the Republican Party.

First of all, America and her people stand for freedom of speech.  We stand for respect of all citizens’ rights to speak their minds. Yes, you will hear name-calling of anyone who pokes his or her nose into the political arena.

Twenty years ago, when I spoke out against illegal immigration, pro-illegal alien officials and citizens called me all sorts of names.  They used the “r” word, the “n” word, the “x” word, and the “h-m” word.

When in fact, I called for “law and order” and the enforcement of our U.S. Constitution and immigration laws.  As you can see, Bill Clinton, George Bush and Barack Obama didn’t and haven’t enforced our laws.  They remain in violation of our laws.  Obama continues in violation of our laws. His executive amnesties violate our Constitution.   Hillary Clinton, if she becomes president, will continue violating our immigration laws by providing open borders and amnesty.  It’s a guaranteed fact.

Interestingly, men like U.S. Senator Harry Reid, as well as Senators Boxer, Feinstein, Hatch, Levin, Schumer, Rubio, McCain and most of the rest of Congress created “Donald Trump” because those representatives did nothing for the past 35 years to ensure our security and our borders.  Article 4, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution mandates they protect our borders.  They failed and they failed to the tune of 15 to 30 million illegal aliens jumping our borders and illegally inhabiting our country.

They failed us with the 9/11 Muslims, Boston Marathon Muslim bombers, Chattanooga, Tennessee Muslims killers, Fort Hood Muslim killer, New York Times Square Muslim car bomber, San Bernardino Muslim killers and dozens of more Muslim killers they let into our country and continue importing into our country.

Why would you allow the worlds’ most violent religion to accelerate inside your own country when Muslims state they intend to make America an Islamic state?

“Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any faith, but to become dominant. The Qur’an should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.” Omar Ahmed, director of Council on American Islamic Relations.

After 30 years of not enforcing our laws, we American citizens feel just a wee bit pissed off.  Angry, frustrated, despairing and exasperated!   In the past 51 yeas, we watched over 100 million third world immigrants invade our country legally, while another 15 to 30 million illegal aliens violated our country’s borders.

Democrats may use all the nasty “words” they want, but Trump stands up for America’s sovereignty.  He’s the only one!

Therefore, if you try to silence his 1st Amendment rights, you silence your own voice because at some point, when you kill our U.S. Constitution, you kill the foundation of your free life.  At all times in history, a Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, king of any country, Mao, current North Korean dictator, Muslim kings and other dictators crush people without free speech and free press.

Therefore, celebrate Trump’s right to speak his mind.  Celebrate Hillary and Bill Clintons’ ability to lie under oath and get away with it—until one day, the law catches up to them.  Celebrate the criminality of Harry Reid, Diane Feinstein, Charles Schumer, John McCain, Lyndon Baines Johnson and even the sexual dalliances of John F. Kennedy—because in the end, our 1st Amendment rights allow historians, journalists and citizens to dig into the truth.

If not for free speech, Barack Hussein Obama would get away with the biggest lying scam in history by keeping his records sealed as he has for the past seven years.  No one really knows the country of his birth, his real social security number, his back-dated Selective Service numbers, his student ID card as a foreign student, all his sealed college records, how he obtained the presidency with no credentials other than a lying tongue, why the Nobel Prize people awarded him the “Nobel Prize for Peace” when he didn’t earn it or deserve it.   Historians will expose Obama’s violations of our Constitution because of the 1st Amendment.

Therefore, as we see our civilization fragmented and fractured by legal and illegal immigration, we enjoy exposing career, corrupt politicians.  As we see Muslims inject themselves into our country in order to squash our 1st Amendment rights, we maintain the right to call them out—at least until they behead us or bomb us.   As the illegal aliens continue their onslaught of our borders and jobs, we need our free press to expose them and their employers.

Because, without our 1st Amendment, we fail as a free people.

From the Upper Room

I kind of liked today’s devotional so I thought I would share with everyone.   I know I probably don’t get a lot of readership but  just in case . . .

Read Psalm 107:1-9

O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.

– Psalm 107:1 (NRSV)

Today’s Devotional

When I was a child, my mother and father taught me the importance of the words please and thank you. Over the past 60 plus years, I’ve learned again and again just how powerful these words can be both in conversation and in prayer.

Reflecting recently on my daily prayers, I found myself using the word pleasefrequently — very frequently in fact. I used the words thank you, too, but not as often. I realized that my petitions and requests were far more numerous than my expressions of gratefulness and appreciation for the blessings God has already provided. Wanting to change that, I decided to begin silently saying “thank you!” throughout the day — every time I sense God’s presence or every time I experience one of God’s blessings.

As a result of a more purposeful focus on my expressions of gratitude, the power of those simple words my parents taught me decades ago has been renewed. My silent acknowledgments of God’s boundless blessings throughout the day are a vivid and pleasant reminder of God’s care and constant presence. As we say please and thank you to God, we are continually reminded of God’s amazing grace, peace, and steadfast love that endure forever!

Socialism says everything you have is ours and always has led to poverty. Christianity says everything I have is yours and has always led to prosperity. Socialism is a take away. Christianity is a give away. Socialism is control based. Christianity is love based. As America has turned away from God..government has become god. When America was good..America was great. We have ceased to be good and we have ceased to be great.

Using”Freedom of Speech”to silence another’s”Freedom of Speech”is dangerous. Every American should be appalled by what went on in Chicago.
